Happy end of February and almost spring!
I was listening to this video the other day on “The Committee That Lives in Your Head”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlwjOtVD-Ng
How many of you feel like you constantly have an inward dialogue going – and one that is predominantly against yourself?
We’ve heard about being properly assertive with the people in our lives, but how often are we assertive within our own thought lives? I think this concept goes along with 2 Corinthians 5:10: “…bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
People who struggle with anxiety are really bad at being their own encourager. We’ve become accustomed to listening to the second-guessing, accusing voice over that of the Lord. It’s time to start challenging that negative, inward “committee” and listen for His voice. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27.
I love the point made in the video that these constant second-guessing/accusing thoughts are not of the Lord. Be assertive with them and say, “No, this second-guessing habit is not of God. I am a child of God filled with the Holy Spirit. I can trust Him to lead me, guide, and make me into the person He has for me to be. And I’m going to celebrate where I am right now.”
Comment if you have any insights to share on this struggle!
Blessings,
Jacklyn
